The men’s ice hockey team is raffling off a chance to win two tickets to the New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills game on December 22.
Sean Munzing, the assistant captain of the team, said, “The tickets come with a parking pass, a buffet, along with having a chance to meet Patriots alumni and cheerleaders.”
Alex Lester, the captain, said the proceeds will go directly back to the ice hockey team. “We will hopefully be able to purchase new sticks, and equipment, and be able use the fundraising for traveling for the team,” said Lester.
This is the first time the team has raffled off Patriots tickets, according to Munzing. Head Coach Sean Millerick thought of the fundraising opportunity. For six years, the team has received the majority of its fundraising from working NASCAR races in the summer.
Each raffle ticket costs $10, but three tickets can be bought for $20. “About 50-70 tickets have been sold so far,” said Lester. “Each player has to sell $100 worth of raffle tickets before the drawing.
The team acquired the tickets with the money made from working the concession stand at Ravens football games. They hope the large Patriots following at FPU will encourage many students to purchase raffle tickets.
Raffle tickets will be sold until the second week of December when the team will broadcast the drawing on Instagram live.
