Students gathered in the Lakeside Classroom to relax with treats and music during a hectic time of the semester.
Chad Brown-Springer, a beatboxer and R&B musical performer, was invited to perform on campus today, November 22.
According to Alicia Barry, the Assistant Director of Student Involvement, Brown-Springer performed at the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) convention, which the Pierce Activities Council (PAC) executive board attended in late October.
The PAC executive board enjoyed his unique performance and contacted his agent to invite him to campus, according to Barry.
“I love looping, I think that it’s fascinating. It’s like your own personal acapella band and it’s fascinating,” said Barry.
Sophomore Florisbeth Joseph said, “Music is therapeutic, and I really like R&B which is kind of his vibe so it’s definitely relieving a lot of stress being here.”
Joseph and many other FPU students are feeling the stress of final projects and assignments, so the Jingle Mingle gave them a place to relax and listen to music.
The Jingle Mingle event also had an ugly-sweater contest for students to compete for a $50 Amazon gift card. A PAC member, Nicole Berkio, worked a photobooth, and another took photos of students in ugly sweaters. PAC provided cookies and hot chocolate during the event as well.
Usually, an event like this would be in Spagnuolo Hall, but due to scheduling conflicts, it was moved to Lakeside. Barry was excited about having more seniors attending the event. “I think a huge reason that the seniors don’t come up is because events are in Spag Hall,” said Barry.
