Celebration of Life: Cameron Anagnos heart condition
by Joshua Labrecque
Cameron Anagnos has had four open heart surgeries for a heart condition, including medical valve implant. Anagnos, 20, has been battling problems with his left ventricle since before he was born.
Anagnos, unlike other people his age, cannot compete in football, soccer and many other sports. Even though those are bad things that have affected him there are also some good things that have come out of this. He said, “I’ve been able to meet people that understand what I’m going through and try and help me along the way.”
He says it is tough going through this because he has to take four medications such as Jantoven, Metropolol, and Lisinopril. He also has to have many doctor checkups. He had his most recent surgery his junior year of high school which kept him out of school for three months.
He said, “If there’s one thing I have to say to all people is that if you know someone battling with this, cut them some slack because it not only a medical condition it also affects them physically.” Anagnos has to deal with this condition the rest of his life, but says he looks to live a normal life like anyone else.
