An earthquake in Turkey killed at least nine and injured many on February 23, according to the BBC News.
At least 37 people were injured after houses collapsed, said Turkey’s interior minister Suleyman Soylu.
The magnitude-5.7 earthquake centered on the Iranian border village of Habash-e Olya.
At least 75 people were injured, and houses were damaged in 43 villages in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province.
“There were children under the debris. We thought we heard their voices,” said the rescuers digging to try and find people.
“We didn’t understand what happened exactly and we pulled out three bodies,” a villager told Reuters news agency.
Around 1,066 buildings collapsed due to the earthquake, Soylu said.
The governor of Van Mehmet, Emin Bilmez, said that there were no more people trapped under rubble.
