Students are grateful for Franklin Pierce
by Lily Collins
This pandemic has changed students’ perspectives and made them realize how thankful they are for FPU.
Nicole Amato, a junior, says, “I’m most thankful for my friends and family.” The women’s ice hockey member is especially thankful for her grandparents, and “not being able to see them right now is hard.”
After Amato’s junior year was cut short, she’s excited to see her friends upon their return to campus. “I’m going to value my time with my friends next year a lot more,” said Amato.
Senior Kobie Adams realized how many experiences at FPU were taken for granted. “I always knew I was thankful for Franklin Pierce, but I still took the little things for granted.”
Sophomore Mckenna Skalky realized how much she loved being at school once it got taken away from her. “It made me realize that I cherish the people at school so much more than I knew,” said Skalky.
Sophomore Lenny Schwartz said he’s going to live in every moment from now on. “I’m not going to take the experiences, friendships or processes for granted anymore.”
“I realized that everything familiar can be taken away, and it’s out of our control. But what is in our control is being fully in the moment and appreciating every second of it,” said Schwartz.
Senior Ariel Dumont is heartbroken for the class of 2020. “I realized how grateful I am for the community at Pierce and all the friends that have become family.”
“If I had known I wouldn’t return after spring break, I would have cherished every minute on campus and hugged all of the people that have supported me over the past four years,” Dumont said. “I didn’t realize how many lasts I had experienced without even knowing it would be my last.”
Dumont added, “To all of the underclassmen, I hope you make sure to cherish every minute you have left on this campus, hug all of your friends longer, and appreciate a Pearly sunset a little bit more.”
