The death toll from coronavirus has moved up from 5 to 9 today, according to the Boston Globe.

People traveling around even amid this dangerous virus has had state officials imposing restrictions on how many people can be at a gathering. In the state of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has advised the public to stay at home and ordered non-essential businesses to close. 777 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported in Massachusetts, the governor’s efforts to closing non-essential businesses is a step to limit interactions.

“We’re asking everyone to use their common sense, think about the impact this virus is having on the sick and elderly, and to limit their interactions with other people. This cuts down on the chances this virus has to spread,” said Baker. With the state aggressively taking steps to combat the spread of the virus. Consequences for those who don’t abide by the law could receive up to 300 dollars in civil fines and possibilities of criminal charges.

This new order is due to expire on April 7th, being the same as the statewide closure to schools and ban in-person service. “The date is fluid and open to being extended,” said Baker. Some schools have closed beyond the April 7th date.
