Raven’s Athletics Director speaks to revised sports schedule
by Ivan Bernal Garcia
Rachel Burlson, the Director of Athletics, knows that athletic teams are concerned about when the postponed games will be played.
Burlson said in an email interview, “It was unfortunate that these matches were not played in the schedule, but with covid-19 it was almost impossible to play them. The first thing is the health of the players, we don’t want more cases in the universities.”
Burlson said, “It will be a tough few weeks for Franklin Pierce and all college teams, but the conference finals and regionals are scheduled to be played in late April and early May.”
Freshman Richie Cimpric from the baseball team expressed concerns in an in-person interview. “Postponing games has been difficult because we were looking forward to playing,” he said, “Now we have a lot of games in a short period of time and this can affect the team, such as injuries or muscle overloads.”
Nonetheless, Cimpric was happy. “The whole team prefers to have more games now and take advantage of the season (but) we are privileged to have the season because Covid-19 has made it very difficult.”
The re-scheduled conference season should end at the end of April.
