Senior community assistant members began their dry goods for baked goods event on campus last Monday October 29th, by handing out bags to students to be filled for the local food pantry.

The goal of the event is for the seniors to collect as many nonperishable foods as possible for the Rindge Food Pantry, between November 11th and 16th.

After the collection for the food pantry, “The students from Lakeview and Sawmill will receive baked goods in return,” said Jeremy Blydenburgh, a member of the senior CA staff.

The baked goods that the seniors will receive in return will be made by the CA staff, and will be delivered to them shortly after the collection for the food pantry. The CA staff is required to do several events a year that cover different areas. The dry goods for baked goods event covers the community and society event, as it directly involves the campus and local community.

Some of the upcoming events that the CA’s on campus will be hosting are a candy apple decorating event on November 8th in the glass foyer, and a game of kahoot in granite hall, with gift card prizes available

There is a crisis of trust in journalism right now.
Many Americans say they don’t trust the news media anymore, and poll after poll shows that they want newspapers to be more transparent about how the
news is gathered.
This semester the Exchange is asking its reporters to describe what they did to report the facts, in what
we’re calling a transparency statement. We ask our readers to feel free to use the comment boxes at
the bottom of each article to call them out when the reporters may not have done enough and to
compliment them when you think they’ve done a good job.
For my article this week the event I was assigned to cover was the dry goods for baked goods event that is being run by the senior community assistants. The event is essentially the senior CA staff handing out bags for seniors to collect non perishable foods for the food pantry in Rindge and then thanking the seniors for donating by making them baked goods. I got in touch with Michelle Bourassa the experience director for senior residents and she directed me to talk with one of the senior CA’s Jeremy Blydenburgh who I sat down with briefly to get some more information about the event. After meeting with Jeremy I was able to finish the article.
