The Pierce Activity Committee (PAC) is bringing a neon twist to its traditional Paint Night at their event this Saturday Feb. 23.

The event will take place in Spagnuolo Hall, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Students can look forward to a different style of Paint Night with mason-jar painting, air-brush tattoos, spin art activities, and a raffle for a chance to win a neon wall sign.

Bailey Clapp, publicity coordinator of PAC, said, “For this event in particular, we are hoping to draw attention with the neon décor prizes. We noticed a large number of students were interested in our basic canvas paint nights, so we came up with a new idea to use mason-jars as canvases while using a neon/black-light theme. Since black lights will be used, we encourage everyone to wear white for the full-effect!”

PAC has been working hard to increase student participation on campus. “Our plan to increase the number of students at each event has been successful so far as we have introduced some exciting door prices to motivate students to attend. We have offered free door prizes to all students who attend our events, and it has really helped with driving students in. We also introduced the “Street Effect” where PAC members deliver knick-knacks to students with a flyer about an upcoming event,” said Clapp.

Kaitlyn Puzzo, vice president of PAC, said, “Some of our events coming up this spring include Bingo Nights, Sun-Fest, a Red Sox trip, and a guest comedian.” Students can find more information about future events on social media. “As always we use posters to announce the events, but we are hoping more students begin to follow our Instagram page, @FPUPAC, which we use heavily each week,” said Clapp.

PAC meets every Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Monadnock Lounge. “New members are always welcome, as student input is what we rely on to plan new events,” said Clapp.

There is a crisis of trust in journalism right now. Many Americans say they don’t trust the news media anymore, and poll after poll shows that they want newspapers to be more transparent about how the news is gathered.
This semester the Exchange is asking its reporters to describe what they did to report the facts, in what we’re calling a transparency statement. We ask our readers to feel free to use the comment boxes at the bottom of each article to call them out when the reporters may not have done enough and to compliment them when you think they’ve done a good job.

For this article, Courtney and I spoke with the vice president of PAC, Kaitlyn Puzzo, as well as Bailey Clapp, publicity coordinator. These interviewees helped us understand what to expect from the Glow Party this Saturday, as well as what to look forward to for upcoming events. The information given to us gave us a better insight into the event than the information on the original poster. We noticed that PAC has done a tremendous job by marketing to students through signage as well as social media postings. Exciting door prizes help to motivate more students to come to these events, but a fun environment is what makes the event memorable.
