An early screening of “The Providers” was brought to Spagnuolo Hall, hosted by the Fitzwater Center. The documentary highlighted the importance of a better healthcare system in modern America. Nearly 25 students and guests were able to watch this before its debut on national television.

The film brought many Franklin Pierce students to watch and learn about complex problems found in our current healthcare system. Although a majority of attendees were student the screening also attracted a few town residents.

The screening was followed by a panel giving attendees an opportunity to ask any questions about the film or about the subjects discussed in the documentary. One local said, “I’m surprised to hear about the lack of funding provided.” Dr. Tom Bennet explained that funding depends on the state level.

There is a crisis of trust in journalism right now.
Many Americans say they don’t trust the news media
anymore, and poll after poll shows that they want newspapers to be more transparent about how the
news is gathered.
This semester the Exchange is asking its reporters to describe what they did to report the facts, in what
we’re calling a transparency statement. We ask our readers to feel free to use the comment boxes at
the bottom of each article to call them out when the reporters may not have done enough and to
compliment them when you think they’ve done a good job.

I attended this event then voice recorded the post screening interviews.
