As many as 400 citizens are detained and  being held for questioning every day. Police stations and prisons are so over populated that some citizens are being held at state security camps around Cairo. There are not nearly enough toilets, and the growing need of food and water for these detainees means going days without. “Many of those arrested had no apparent link to the demonstrations that have been occurring against their president,” said Nada Rashwan, said a reporter on the scene.

However, support for the president is almost nonexistent because of the sheer number of arrests combined with President el-Sisi’s modest gestures to address the protesters economic demands.
