Quiet Friday evening in DiPietro Library at Franklin Pierce

It’s Friday evening in the DiPietro Library.
The library is virtually empty. A couple of students trickle in and out occasionally. The only real noise being made comes from the whirring of the printers and computers. The television in the library is set to play CNN.
Unlike most Friday nights, the library is open past its normal closing time of 6 p.m. Tonight, it’s open until 10:00.
Tyra Olmstead, a sophomore and circulation assistant, is overseeing the library from the assistance desk. Her shift ends at 6:00. It’s quiet, but she’s killing time by cutting out holiday pictures that will go on the door of her dorm room. Sophomore Brandon Bojarsky is helping Olmstead out.
Sophomore Brendan Cerone walks in quickly. He’s only here to talk to a couple of friends, but he wishes the library were open later every Friday.
“I’d enjoy it to be open until midnight,” Cerone says. “I have a lot of things due Fridays at 11:59, so just being able to have space to do work and stuff like that would be nice.”
