The Ravens Track and Field travelled to Plymouth State University to compete in the Panther Invitational, placing 3rd of 11 teams for the men and 3rd of 14 for the women, This past Saturday, February 9th.

Sophomore Riley Fenoff opened the day for the men’s team in the 5000 meter run. Battling a runner from Thomas College, Fenoff led the race for all 25 laps around the 200-meter track.

Fenoff said, “I felt smooth, started out a little slow but after that I felt completely in control.”

Fenoff finished in 15:40.96 and scored 10 points for the Ravens.

Midway through the meet a fire alarm disrupted the proceedings for 20 minutes. All athletes exited the building, leaving the warm track and trading it for the frigid temperatures and brisk wind. However, this did nothing to hinder the confidence of the Ravens.

After the fire alarm, which turned out to be a false alarm, The Ravens returned to the track to run the mile. Spectators watched as six Ravens competed in the race, four of who were in the first and fastest section of the event. Graduate student William Rawson, freshman Zach Aham, and senior Walker John all finished within the top eight runners, scoring points for the Ravens.

Nearing the end of the meet the Ravens came together once more as relay teams. Each team consisted of athletes who had already run two or three events prior to taking the track one last time to bring the meet to a close.

The women’s 4×200 meter relay team took pole position, winning the race with 1:52.37, beating out Plymouth State’s women by a second.

The men’s 4×400 meter relay took home second place running a 3:39.53 only being bested by Suffolk University who ran a 3:34.56.

The Ravens will travel next weekend to compete in the BU Valentine invite, hosted by Boston University (Boston, MA).
