Wellness Wednesday provides a wealth of resources
by Patrick McDonough
The Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) hosted Wellness Wednesday in the Glass Foyer on February 26th.
SART hosted the event in order to provide students with important information they will need if they are ever involved in a situation where they are sexually assaulted, experience sexual misconduct or inter-partner violence.
Kathleen Dougherty, assistant dean of Student Affairs, was responsible for running the event.
“The main hope today is to offer students the opportunity to stop by and ask questions to learn not only about support services, but maybe I don’t want to file a formal report, but I am struggling with something and I need some help,” she said.
The table had a large selection of resources for students to use. Students could grab flyers with information with that would help.
The Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention (MCVP), a non-profit organization that supports survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, was one of the resources on the table.
“They [MCVP] also provide legal support, if a student went to the hospital to get a sexual assault examination kit done, they would come to support them,” Dougherty Said.
Dougherty wanted everyone to know that there are many ways to get help on campus including confidential reporting in health services or going directly to the local police.
