Adventure Rec organizes the weekly ski trip to Crotched Mountain on Friday nights. With a student ID, students only have to pay 20 dollars to ski all night, a very low cost compared to other mountains.

The mountain summit stands at 2063 feet. The event is run by Doug Carty, the extracurricular director who organizes most of the outdoor recreation events on campus.

Matthew Turner, an Adventure Rec employee, “The mountain is a very easy place for anyone to learn how to ski.” There were many families on the slopes along with seasoned skiers and snowboarders that every Friday night. Midnight Madness at Crotched Mountain lets students ski until 3:00 a.m. on weekends and holidays.

Turner also said that they have gotten good conditions over the past trips, making it easy for people to learn and enjoy the mountain. The ski trip runs all the way until Spring Break and meets every Friday in the Bubble.

There is a crisis of trust in journalism right now. Many Americans say they don’t trust the news media anymore, and poll after poll shows that they want newspapers to be more transparent about how the news is gathered.

This Semester the Exchange is asking it’s reporters to describe what they did to report the facts, in what we’re calling a transparency statement. We ask our readers to feel free to use the comment boxes at the bottom of each article to call them out when the reporters may not have4 done enough and to compliment them when you think they’ve done a good job.

For this article: the news was gathered while speaking to an employee of Doug Carty, the primary organizer of student activities. I sat down with Matt Turner and discussed the ski trips.
