Music comes to the FPU cafeteria

The FPU cafeteria invited two students to perform during their Italian Social event on March 5th.
The performance took place in the New Hampshire room and included senior Joshua Giaquinto and sophomore John Grenier. They played for the entire event starting at 4:30 p.m. and ending at 6:30 p.m.
“It was nice to play somewhere on campus that wasn’t the music hall,” said Giaquinto. He used an acoustic guitar and played popular classical guitar pieces such as “Lagrima,” “Cavatina,” and “Let It Be.”
Grenier accompanied Giaquinto on some songs playing a keyboard. Friends of Giaquinto, sophomore Morgan Smith, appeared to support him and were glad to see him play different kinds of music than they normally see him play.
Students attending the event expressed pleasure in having live entertainment as a change in what they normally have.
The head of the event, Kyle Rao said, “it needed a theme and everyone seemed to be happy with it.” Rao was glad the performance didn’t use speakers. “Live music gives it a sense of authenticity,” he said.
The event was for students who signed up and paid a $10 fee. It included a dinner of freshly cooked Italian food.
For this article, I asked the performers Giaquinto and Grenier for permission to get into the event without a ticket. This way I could write about their performance and help advertise their playing. After the event was over I was asked by Giaquinto for the pictures I took so he could have them for himself. He seemed pleased in the pictures and happy I was interested in what he was playing.
