Newsbrief: Only you can stop the spread of coronavirus

Everyone plays a role in preventing the spread of the coronavirus, by staying home people protect themselves and their community, according to The New York Times.

Preventing infection is important because one infected person can be the source of about 400 additional cases, according to Adam Kucharski, a mathematician who specializes in disease outbreaks. The best way to prevent catching the coronavirus is by washing hands often for 20 seconds with lots of soap. Use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available but still scrub hands like one would with soap and water.

Cleaning one’s home and phone with disinfectants often helps prevent the spread of coronavirus. Continue to cover sneezes and coughs while remaining six feet away from people while in public.

Hoarding items such as medications, cleaning supplies, toilet paper and groceries will not prevent infection from the virus.

Stay home as much as possible. Do not leave unless it is necessary. Spending time outdoors with family and exercising at home will help pass the time. If leaving the house is necessary wearing a mask could help prevent the spared in crowded places.

Staying home and washing hands often is the best way to stay safe and stop the spread.
