More US states begin lifting virus lockdown orders

 Many US leaders are calling for a continuation of social distancing guidelines throughout the summer, according to BBC.

Governors warn that life will not quickly return to normal, the restrictions will remain in some places to keep the virus from rejuvenating. The infection has dropped significantly in multiple hotspots including New York, the US epicenter.Men sitting outside in Georgia

Georgia, Oklahoma, Alaska and South Carolina are allowing some businesses to reopen. Other states are making plans to lift the lockdown and make it as safe as possible for its citizens in the coming weeks.

States with warmer climates are taking advantage of the drop of cases. Tennessee will allow restaurants to reopen. Mississippi’s mandatory lockdown order expires, also Montana’s governor has allowed churches to reopen starting on Sunday.

Although some states are reopening, officials are making it clear that citizens should still be safe and make the best decisions. Dr Deborah Birx ,White House coronavirus taskforce co-ordinator said, “social distancing will still be the main priority,through the summer to really ensure that we protect one another as we move through these phases.”

As of Tuesday, the US has over 994,000 recorded coronavirus cases, according to Johns Hopkins University, and more than 56,700 deaths.
