Like many other classes, media production is hybrid with in-person and online sessions. A sophomore Caitlin Agnew said, in a zoom interview, “I struggle to get in actual contact with people since people have more opportunities ignoring us on zoom and stuff.”

Other students have experienced difficulties experienced scheduling the production studios, another sophomore Alexis Briggs said, in an interview conducted over text, “Scheduling to book those studios take so much effort because the cleaning time takes up a lot of time after we use the equipment every time.”

Basic protocols such as wearing masks and hand sanitizing also impacted some students. Another sophomore Hernani Moniz said, in an in-person interview, “We have to have our masks of course, but we also need face shields and gloves too. Because the lights in the studio produce heat, wearing those masks and stuff makes us so uncomfortable to be in there even though we know it’s for our community’s health.”

FPU should consider resolving these problems by allowing students to schedule for the studios on their day off’s. Meanwhile, the students should continue to sanitize equipment, wear masks, face shields, and hand gloves so that COVID-19 can still be prevented in some respect.
