Upcoming Frankie P Friday will brush students with creativity

The Student Involvement Committee is bringing in an airbrush artist to personalize backpacks for its upcoming Frankie P Friday on April 12th.
Students will have the opportunity to choose a design for airbrush artists to transform a plain canvas backpack or tote bag into a work of art.
Assistant Director of Student Involvement Alicia Berry said, “We have noticed that students enjoy the Frankie P Fridays that involve freebies. The airbrush backpacks and tote bags are a fun way for students to kick off the weekend and go home with an item that expresses their personality.”
Many of Frankie P Friday activities consist of artistic projects for students to conduct on their own or design for a professional artist to complete. Junior Zoe-Ann Yamamoto said, “I really enjoy going to the Frankie P Friday events. My friends usually do not attend events like these since they usually interfere with other weekend activities, but the nice thing about Frankie P Fridays is that they are super quick and I usually head home with a free personalized item.”
Frankie P Fridays are held in the Glass Foyer, so students can participate before or after they grab dinner in the dining hall. Junior Taylor Hartley said, “I usually attend most of the Frankie P Fridays without even knowing about them in advance. I like that they are set up in the Glass Foyer for people to notice as they head to the cafe to eat.”
The Frankie P Friday airbrush backpack event will take place this Friday, April 12, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The next Frankie P Friday will take place on Friday, April 26, where students can customize a coloring sheet to be printed out.
There is a crisis of trust in journalism right now. Many Americans say they don’t trust the news media anymore, and poll after poll shows that they want newspapers to be more transparent about how the news is gathered.
This semester the Exchange is asking its reporters to describe what they did to report the facts, in what we’re calling a transparency statement. We ask our readers to feel free to use the comment boxes at the bottom of each article to call them out when the reporters may not have done enough and to compliment them when you think they’ve done a good job.
For this article, I conducted an email interview with Alicia Berry for a more detailed explanation about this event. I also interviewed students Zoe-Ann Yamamoto and Taylor Hartley, who gave me their opinion about their experiences with Frankie P Fridays. Their opinions were very positive and seemed to promote more students to attend. All of the information I received was beyond the limit of the information stated on the Frankie P Friday poster for this event.
