Therapy dogs bring smiles to students

On Thursday, November 8th, the Center of Academic Excellence held a therapy dog event featuring four puppies outside of the library cafe.

This wasn’t the first time that Franklin Pierce had therapy dogs on campus for students, they held a similar event earlier in the year. The four puppies were each from a different breed. Students came in full force to the event, with more than 75 coming in and out between classes to spend time with the dogs.

Rob Colburn, a freshman on the lacrosse team, said, “I really enjoyed having the dogs here. They made me remember my dog back home.” Colburn said he wish he had gone to the event held earlier in the year.

Sophomore Coleman Lydon also attended the event and said, “I was having a really bad day but the therapy dogs helped put me in a good mood for the rest of the day.” Lydon did go to an earlier event with the therapy dogs and he said he couldn’t wait for the next one.

The event has been well supported by the Franklin Pierce community and multiple students mentioned that they hope to see more therapy dogs in the future.

There is a crisis of trust in journalism right now.
Many Americans say they don’t trust the news media
anymore, and poll after poll shows that they want newspapers to be more transparent about how the
news is gathered.
For this event I went out and interviewed multiple students participating in the event. I walked around and watched people interact with the therapy dogs. I interviewed multiple people who were at the event. This was a really enjoyable event to cover. The time spent on the event to gather my information was a couple hours.
