Student Involvement will be celebrating Alcohol Awareness Week in the glass foyer on Wednesday, October 23 at 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Senior Vince Hall who had been a part of previous Alcohol Awareness events said it is “very informative on bringing awareness to the dangers of irresponsible drinking.”

During the week of October 19-25, every college and university across the nation sponsors programs, forums, and educational initiatives aimed at raising awareness of alcohol issues on campus.

For many freshmen in college it is their first time away from home and with that can come irresponsible drinking habits.

Junior Elena Ivanova, a Bulgarian studying at FPU, has a different perspective and said, “In Bulgaria, the legal age to drink is 18 so it’s something that isn’t a big deal because people my age are used to it.”

Transparency Statement: how I got this story. I spoke with a few students who had participated in prior National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week events to get a better understanding of what students think of it. I hadn’t heard of this event better covering this advance article so I had to research and learn more about it so I know what kind of questions to ask students who had attended before.
