Over 20 students beat the winter blues with BINGO

by Courtney Grafstein

On the snow day on Monday March 4th, over 20 students participated in PAC’s bingo night to try and beat the blues.

The bingo night itself was free of charge, but many of the prizes that were up for grabs were quite valuable. In Spagnuolo Hall, Student Involvement organized a bingo night with prizes such as Apple Airpods, an Apple Watch, assorted gift cards, pub points, and more.

In an in person interview, sophomore Aya Poirier, who is an avid bingo attendee, said, “I attended the bingo night with a few of my friends and it was much more fun than sitting in my dorm and staring at the wall. I’ve been so bored of hibernating in my dorm.”

Freshman Patrick McDonough said, “My favorite part of the bingo night was the competitive and almost electric environment. Everyone was yelling and screaming when the winner called BINGO,” during an in person interview.

The bingo night took place  at 7 p.m.

There is a crisis of trust in journalism right now. Many Americans say they don’t trust the news media anymore, and poll after poll shows that they want newspapers to be more transparent about how the news is gathered.

This semester the Exchange is asking its reporters to describe what they did to report the facts, in what we’re calling a transparency statement.  We ask our readers to feel free to use the comment boxes at the bottom of each article to call them out when the reporters may not have done enough and to compliment them when you think they’ve done a good job.

Transparency Statement:

For this article, I conducted two in person interviews with a current sophomore and a current freshman. I also attended the event because I wanted to experience it for myself. I gained information about both the bingo night and their general feelings toward living on campus during the winter months. I was unaware of the term “winter blues” before conducting my interviews, but I wasn’t surprised to find out that students aren’t as happy when the sun isn’t shining.
