Women’s Lacrosse defeated at home by Chargers in lopsided match

Another goal by New Haven’s Emily Holland increased her teams lead, by a dozen with less than 12 minutes remaining in the first half of play. Franklin Pierce came into the match on Friday March, 8th at Sodexo Field on a three-game winning streak. but the Ravens were unable to stop the Chargers’ relentless attack in the first 30 minutes of the game.
Early on in this one, New Haven players were making dangerous, long passes at midfield, and no one on defense was able to stop them.
When the ball was in the Ravens’ defensive zone, New Haven players including Holland and Mackenzie Reh were able to score several points. Raven defenders were unable to break up fast, crisp passes, and Megan Bacik in net was unable to withstand the heavy number of shots.
In the snow-covered stands, the crowd continued to cheer even with the growing deficit. Players on the frigid sideline did the same.
“Keep going, let’s get the ball back” shouted several Raven players waiting to get into the action. Suddenly, the crowd erupted in the closing minutes of the first half. Bella Lima shot one to the top left corner of the net with a quickness that Gianna Guerra couldn’t react to. This put the Ravens first point on the board.
The second half was unfortunately more of the same. Franklin Pierce tried to get into the game, but their first half problems were impossible to overcome. New Haven was able to easily hold onto this one, 19-3 The Ravens were downed for the first time this season ending their winning streak.
