It was game number two against Colby College and the warm up jog was cold on upper field. You could see everyone’s breath making one big cloud as the team hustled in for stretching. Michela Connors would start as a forward for FPU Women’s rugby team. No one on the team has played on the upper field before. Michela was nervous about the size of the field being regulation size rugby field which is 57 yds longer than a football field.
The warm up went well and Michela comes off with a big smile ready for the game to begin. “Let’s go team!” Michela yelled and everyone got restless, ready to put all their aggression out on the field.
As the 15 women set up on the pitch it felt intense. Everyone was quiet now. No one really knew what the outcome would be. They just seemed ready to give their, blood, sweat and tears to the game. Michela lined up behind the kicker’s back foot, positioning herself toward the other team and bellowed out, “I got the first hit.”
The Sir striked his whistle and the ball was kicked across the field.
