Due to a lack of communication with students, Student Involvement cancelled “Make your own Movie Snack,” last Friday October, 18.

The event, which was to take place in the Glass Foyer from 5:00pm to 7:00 p.m., was intended to lead into “Anime Movie night in Spag” and a trip to Keene to view the movies Joker and Maleficent.

There was going to be popcorn, chips, and drink stands, but was short lived because other events had to be cancelled.

There were two emails that were sent from the Anime Club saying, “Again, sorry for the confusion. There was a little bit of communication error among the Anime memebers. We will be presenting Dragon Ball Z in Monadnock Lounge, not Spag.”

Matthew Cady, a senior who was waiting in the Glass Foyer for the event to start, said, “This event is a real treat and a great idea because I was anticipating to go to the movies because Joker and Maleficent were coming out tonight.”

There were five students who were waiting in line for the event.

The trip to the Keene Movies was cancelled because of the unlicensed use of movie pictures

After waiting about 10 minutes, the students in line were told by a representative from Student Involvement that, “Make your own Movie Snacks will be cancelled due to miscommunications with the other events they were trying to promote with it.”

Transparency statement:

The way I got my story was by interviewing the people that were there at the event who were not happy campers due to the cancellation. I emailed Alicia Berry, the head of Student Involvement, to get more information about why the movie was cancelled and also figure out why no one was informed that the event was being cancelled ahead of time. I also talked to Matthew Cady, one of the students who was waiting in line.
