Intramural softball heated up this past Thursday October 24th, with a game between two teams comprised of many members of the Men’s Ice Hockey team, which left Good Wood victorious over Hard Ballz, 24-11.

Good Wood is made up of senior Men’s Ice Hockey players along with seniors Liam Donohue, Conor Shalin, and Kelsey Holmes. Hard Ballz is comprised of all other grades on the Men’s Ice Hockey team.

After the teams duked it out on the diamond, senior Conor Sahlin, Good Wood shortstop, said, “There was a lot of trash talk before the game and it was nice to silence the crowd so to speak.”

Hard Ballz started off hot with some hits and base running which led them to scoring 7 of their 11 runs in their first two innings.

However, Good Wood stacked their line up making it near impossible to beat them.

Sophomore Kyle Martin of the Hard Ballz team said, “At the end of the day it’s a rebuilding year for the boys. We played a great team and wish them the best of luck in the finals.”

Natalie Patruno, a sophomore in charge of the intramural league, said, “All the teams make it competitive but overall everyone plays with the utmost sportsmanship.”

Throughout the intramural season the intramural staff worked hard to keep everything positive and upbeat.

The finals will take place Tuesday at 8:30 pm.

Transparency Statement: I came across this story because I am close friends with a lot of the hockey boys and it seemed interesting. I don’t feel like people get a lot of the results of intramural sports and I feel like those types of activities should be talked about in order to boost signups for all intramurals.
