The Bubble announced on October 29th that second term fall intramural sports will feature a new event to the intramural slate – lawn games.
Set to begin on November 5th and run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from eight to nine p.m., lawn games will feature a rotation of cornhole, kan-jam and spike ball.
“I’ll definitely try all three,” said sophomore Douglas Quinn, “but spike ball is definitely my favorite already.”
Basketball, another popular intramural sport, is set to tip-off the first week of November, running from seven to eleven p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
“I’m looking forward to good team chemistry, a competitive spirit and a positive environment,” said freshman Andrew Philbin, head coach of the “Wet Dream Team.” “It’ll be a fun season most of all, we’ll see how it turns out.”
On Mondays and Wednesday evenings starting in the first week of November, intramural soccer will feature a six-versus-six format to fit on the Bubble’s turf field.
Teams can register either at the Bubble or by emailing Morgan Candon. Players can also sign up as an individual through the same methods, where they will either be distributed among the existing teams or formed into their own team.
Transparency Statement: My first lead came from a Raven Nation post announcing the return of intramural basketball and soccer. That was followed a few days later by the announcement of lawn games. I then sent out messages to interview Andrew Philbin and Doug Quinn, two students I knew who had plans on playing in the lawn games and, in Philbin’s case, basketball.
