Immediately, the first thing Ben Kosteva can be seen doing is helping an athlete with an apparent ankle injury, assessing the damage and creating a plan of action.

Ben graduated from Merrimack College in 2018 and began his athletic training career here at Franklin Pierce. He began as a graduate assistant and was promoted to assistant athletic trainer after getting his certification this past summer.

“My time at Franklin pierce has been a great experience thus far, learning a lot from coworkers, coaches, students and other trainers about what it takes to get athletes to, or keep them at their peak performance,” said Kosteva.

Ben works around the schedules of the athletes for the most part as he is the trainer for the Women’s Ice Hockey and Soccer, Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s & Women’s Tennis, and Rowing teams.

Kosteva can never be seen doing nothing as he is always either treating an athlete, catching up on paperwork, helping his coworkers, or giving athletes advice.

When asked about his day so far in the training room, Kosteva said, “one of my best athletes got me a free coffee to start my day and I get to finish the day working Women’s Ice hockey, what is there to complain about?.”

Ben will continue his duties of keeping athletes in tip-top shape until he is called-upon to work the ice hockey game tonight.
