The Student Government Association will hold student elections Wednesday, March 11.

The election will feature students running for class officer positions as well as board positions within the association. The whole student body is eligible to vote. The results will be available later that day.

Juniors Megan Barbour-Grissom and Dina Martucci are running for Executive Vice President and Secretary of the Class of 2021 respectively.

“I feel really excited about it,” said Barbour-Grissom, who’s currently the Executive Secretary of the association. “Almost everyone running is a fresh new face. We all have different experience and different aspects.”

They also pointed out that no one is currently running for Treasurer for the Class of 2021 and that anyone can join and even run for positions at any time.

The start of the semester has gone very well overall according to the two, with the “Wild West Casino Night” and the “Safe Rides” program being highlights so far.

The group is also excited about the future and events they have planned. “Something that we have in the works is this big hippie-like event,” said Martucci. “It’s going to be like a spring weekend with concerts and hopefully two different bands.” The event is something that SGA hopes to do next year if everything goes well.

Martucci also wanted to encourage students to join them in SGA. “If you’re a student struggling with making friends, are super bored, or don’t really have a goal, definitely join,” she said.

Barbour-Grissom also talked about some common misconceptions people have about the group. There are more fun aspects like student and faculty recognition, community service projects, and the annual help the SGA provides to the marathon in Keene. “It looks good on resumes, but I think it also helps build you as a person,” she said. “When I started here years ago I would’ve never done any of the things I’m doing now without this experience.”
