Seniors suffer from president closing school

It was just made official on Wednesday March 25th by President Kim Mooney that students will not be returning to campus this semester and seniors are not taking this very lightly.

Trent Dunn, a current senior, says this pandemic has been hard on him and his fellow senior friends. He said,“ Mentally I’m about to lose my mind. It’s hard not to see my friends on a daily basis anymore.” He said he’s sad that seniors may not be able to compete in senior events but thinks there could be a chance.

Dunn hopes Franklin Pierces Staff coordinates for the class of 2020 make these events happen, such as the dance and graduation, because the class deserves them for all their hard work.  He said, “In my mind I’m saddedned, I’m depressed, angry, confused, but I guess thats the circle of life. Part of the journey is the end.”

Senior Bryce Johnson said that because of this cancellation he got his sport and broadcasting taken away from him. He said, “ I lost my club baseball season along with my RSN broadcasting.” He said he was really looking forward to it and is distraught he will never get that spring season back.

Even being at home Johnsons says he still does side projects at home for the university such as taking clips of FPU games and posting them to FPU athletics. His final word to me was he wished the university didn’t make the decisions so quick. He said “ A lot can change between now and April 5th. I wish they waited until they knew more about this.”

These two students  have been keeping in touch with their friends at home but say it’s not the same. Home life has been different because parents are not used to their kids being home so early.

J2 student Joshua Labrecque volunteered to write a campus news article this week in the belief that the FPU community deserves to be informed at all times.
