CAPSTONE PROJECT: Brigid Washburn Tennis Lesson

Brigid Washburn

This is the tennis lesson that I created demonstrating how to serve step by step. This is not the final product because I am going to redo my intro and outro but other than that everything else is completed. I have not been able to reshoot the intro and outro yet because the weather has been snowing or raining for the past week. However, for my intro I will be telling future employers what I care about as a coach and how I will be demonstrating these skills throughout the tennis lesson. For my outro I want to reshoot it just so I can get better audio rather than hearing the wind blowing loudly in the background. I wanted to do my capstone project on teaching a tennis lesson because I hope to pursuit a coaching job after college. I have been playing tennis since I was five years old and have been teaching tennis at my local tennis club for the past six years. This lesson was hard to complete in under 3 minutes because there are so many details and techniques that go in to learning the serve. I really focused on the basics and showing the viewers step by step rather than focusing on technical words. My advice for sophomores and juniors would be to start thinking now about what you want your capstone project to be on. By thinking ahead, you can start to build up your footage and prepare in advance for this big final project to benefit you for getting a job after college.

    Hi Brigid,
First off, I think this was a very informative video and it was right to the point. I loved all the different angles that you used, I think it will further help people who are trying to learn. It also shows your dedication and hard work, making sure you showed every angle help. Even though the video was very to the point, I think you focused on the most important details. I also think the text helped with reinforcing what you were saying while you were demonstrating. All of the demonstrations were shown to help explain what someone should be doing if they are trying to serve. There wasn’t excess information that wouldn’t be helpful. I think this video really demonstrates your knowledge on tennis, your ability to teach tennis and your ability to produce an informative video. This was very well done, and I think anyone could learn from this! Good luck in your future with tennis!

    Brigid.
I think you did a great job on this! This really showed how much passion you have for your future. That is always great. Show the steps and examples were really great as well. I do agree when you said for sophmores and juniors to look ahead. I need to do that soon becasue I haven’t done that yet. Overall you should be proud of what you made and be proud of how far you have come!
