Students and faculty raised $84,000 for Franklin Pierce University as of November 11th at Day of Giving event.

The presidential lounge was full of eager students and faculty on Thursday November 7th as they made charity calls for donations in support of the Day of Giving event on campus. Day of Giving has been successful for the past three or four years it has been organized.

Director of Alumni Events Katie Copeland said, “ This is an opportunity to rally the troops and celebrate giving and what it does for our community.”

There were approximately 25 students and 10 faculty members seated around tables reading their script during calls to alumni and other potential donors. Freshman Megan Winn said, “I love being able to call and reach out to people and have them give back to our team [field hockey] because anything will help.” Snacks and hot chocolate were available for any students and faculty who volunteered.

Initially, the event began as a part of the “Giving Tuesday Campaign,” often referred to as the “national day to give back,” which many non-profits take part in.  The event was then rescheduled to occur earlier than “Giving Tuesday” in hopes of bringing in more donations.
